The wait is finally over - 3.692 ratio gears now exist for the Nissan M205 front diff! These high quality gears are precision cut by one of the largest manufacturers of ring and pinion gearsets in the world who produce for both the OE and the aftermarket.
When changing the tire size on your vehicle you may notice that there is a little more sluggishness at acceleration or that your vehicle is gear hunting when using cruise control on the highway or climbing a hill. The change in tire size has negatively affected your vehicle's final drive ratios. Regearing your differentials is a means for correcting your final drive ratios.
The Nissan M205 front differential comes out of the first generation Nissan Titan and Nissan Armada. It is an upgrade in strength and durability to the factory R180A differential found in the 2005-Present Nissan Frontier and 2005-2015 Nissan Xterra. It bolts into place of the R180A with no modifications required, only needing corresponding CV's (depending on whether you're stock width or titanswapped). The M205 is also more user-friendly for regearing purposes than an R180A.
3.692 is the ideal ratio for 2nd generation Nissan Frontiers and 2nd generation Xterras with automatic transmissions which have been fitted with a 33"-34" tire like the popular 285/75r16. It also is a great ratio for Nissan Titans which have been fitted with 35" tires.
Matching 3.692 rear gears can be found in select M226 rear axles found in 2nd gen Pro4x Nissan Frontiers and Xterras which came from the factory with a manual transmission - a whole axle can be sourced from a local pick and pull. Alternatively, 3.692 M226 rear gears can be purchased as well!
