SKU: ADO-RP-M205M226-4.08
Ok guys, you've added a lift and some bigger tires to your rig. Now you're ready to feel a real improvement in driveability and wheelability. It's time for a regear! ADO's high quality gearsets are the answer; they're precision cut by one of the largest manufacturers of ring and pinion gearsets in the world who produce for both the OE and the aftermarket.
When changing the tire size on your vehicle you may notice that there is a little more sluggishness at acceleration or that your vehicle is gear hunting when using cruise control on the highway or climbing a hill. You may notice in 4lo that you don't have as much torque to the wheels. The change in tire size has negatively affected your vehicle's final drive ratios. Regearing your differentials is a means for correcting your final drive ratios. Check out this blog writeup HERE!
The Nissan M205 front differential comes out of the first generation Nissan Titan and Nissan Armada. It is an upgrade in strength and durability to the factory R180A differential found in the 2005-Present Nissan Frontier and 2005-2015 Nissan Xterra. It bolts into place of the R180A with no modifications required, only needing corresponding CV's (depending on whether you're stock width or titanswapped). The M205 is also more user-friendly for regearing purposes than an R180A. If you're going to regear your Nissan midsize 4x4, it makes the most sense to source an M205.
The Nissan M226 is a Dana 44 variant rear axle which is found in Pro4x trims for the Frontier, Xterra, and Titan. It shares many common parts with the 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK Rubicon Dana 44.
4.08 is the ideal ratio for 2nd generation Nissan Frontiers and 2nd generation Xterras with automatic transmissions which have been fitted with a 35" tire. It also is a great ratio for Nissan Titans which have been fitted with 37" tires. It's also great for 2nd Gen Frontiers and Xterras with a manual transmission and 33" to 34" tires.
Get some power back, improve some MPG's, and have a great time while doing both!
Notes:
- Minor clearancing of the inner housing is required for installation of the M205 front ring gear
- For use with M226's with a 24 spline yoke
- It's currently cheaper to source the individual rebuild components (bearings, races, etc) than it is to purchase a prebuilt master rebuild kit. Use the partnumber list found here for your corresponding differential - https://www.alldogsoffroad.com/tech-regearing-nissan-r180a-m205-and-m226-differentials
